Cake vs Cupcakes

Cake! Cupcakes! Cake! Cupcakes! When you love both of these tasty scrumptiously delectable treats it can be hard to pick just one. Lucky for us, we don't have to. With having a destination wedding and an at home reception, we get the best of both worlds. We get to have our cake and eat cupcakes, too!

One of the very first things we did to plan for our wedding was to have a cupcake tasting with our favorite Portland cupcakery, Cupcake Jones. They took great care of us and we knew we wanted their cupcakes at our at home reception even before we walked through that door. What we didn't realize was how much we LOVE their spice cake and how we would have to push back the date of our at home reception to September to be able to have it at our reception. Fine with us as long as it meant we got the spice cake! The owner of Cupcake Jones has told us she now tells this story to other brides if they haven't had their spice cake before. We think that's pretty great. But, not as great as their spice cake.

While on Maui, we had our cake tasting with Mama's Fish House. Everything about the cakes, fillings and frosting were perfect. All of it was so wonderful, we had a hard time picking which flavors we wanted. Sometimes, we still wonder if we shouldn't have gotten one. More. Tier..... Yes, even for our little tiny wedding. They were just that good. And it is cake we are talking about. You can never have too much cake.

Don't both the cake and the cupcakes look just perfect? We love that we will get to have both and are very happy we didn't have to pick between one or the other.  We can't wait to have them, again.

Are you having cake or cupcakes at your wedding? Or something completely different?
