Leopard Print vs Cheetah Print

Something that has always bugged me is how many people will use leopard print and cheetah print as if they were interchangeable. However, leopard print is not cheetah print and cheetah print is not leopard print. They are two very different things and yet many people treat them as if they were one in the same.

Recently while out doing some tiki shopping at Cost Plus, Drew noticed a leopard print paper lantern that he though I would like. As he was calling me over to look at it he noticed that is read "Cheetah Print" on the label even though the lantern was in fact leopard print. As you can see in the picture, it does read "Cheetah Print" even though the lantern in very clearly leopard print.

What's that you say? You don't know the difference? Well, it's really very easy. Cheetahs have spots and leopards have rosettes. Notice in the picture that the leopard markings are rosettes and not spots. If you see only spots then you know it's cheetah print. Knowing the difference will help you be able to spot out one from the other!
