Last night while we were at the bout Drew started wanting a hot dog from seeing everyone around us eating them. Since neither of us eats meat we weren't able to get one there and decided to get one after the bout. Usually we would go over to Zack's Shack since they have great veggie dogs, but instead we decided to finally try Nick's Famous Coney Island.
Nick's opened up in 1935 and had been a Portland icon every since. It has had three owners during this time that have all followed the same simple business plan of making a damn good coney island dog. Now they even offer a vegetarian version of the dog. It has been the home to many local celebrities, elected officials, as well as movie and sports stars. Recently, Nick's was completely renovated in order to keep the legend alive, as well as attract many generations to come.
