Ringing in 2013

Happy 2013!!!

A few months back we decided to do something a little different for New Year's Eve. Instead of staying in town and going to the same parties we usually do, we thought we would get out of town. Not only would it give us the opportunity to do something new while ringing in our first New Year as husband and wife with just the two of us, but it would also give us a drama-free New Year's Eve. Sounded like the perfect way to start off 2013 to us!

On our way.

We headed to Redmond, where our timeshare has a great location, for a few days in the snow. A few days with no plans at all, except to relax and enjoy our time together. And that's exactly what we did! No obligations, no stress and no drama. Again, perfect!

Hotel del Coronado

Our first stop after Tiki Oasis was to visit the historic Hotel del Coronado. What a great piece of American history! We were glad to see it had been restored and returned to it's previous glory. We didn't see any ghosts, but the place is believed to be haunted.  Have you even seen any or felt anything while you were there?

Lizards sunbathing on the beach.

These birds were all over the hotel.

Funny that "meatless" still includes all kinds of meat.

Turf Club

Our last night in San Diego we meet up with some other tikiphiles to have dinner at the Turf Club. Actually, we were still full from our late lunch, so we just had drinks. Regardless, the place was a great. Especially all of the original decor. An inside place to grill, where everything is prepped for you and the drinks are on the heavy side.

Grilling indoors.

Of course, we all ordered the Sneaky Tiki.

Is Mateo trying to cut us off?

Liza's sad that her drink is empty.

Happy again with new cocktails!

Lucha Libre

We grabbed a late lunch at Lucha Libre since we had heard it was so great.  Honestly, we thought it was pretty bland.  The decor was fabulous, but we wouldn't go back for the food. It wasn't worth the Food Network line.

It was really hard finding parking at this place, be prepared.

You'd think with that many people that the food would be better.

You have to reserve this booth in advance to be able to sit there.

Sunday Brunch at the Bali Hai

Bali Hai has a great Sunday brunch and we were so happy to be able to go there with our friends Dana and Joe.  All of the food is great, but the best part is the endless champagne.  We don't think any of us has ever been so drunk at breakfast before. Hicup!

Practicing for our wedding kiss!

Such a beautiful day at the Bali Hai.

Gotta love the Goof!
