The Gateway Breakfast House

A few blocks away from Knotty Cakes Ranch is The Gateway Breakfast House.  It's always on the lists of best places to have breakfast in Portland so we figured it was time we checked it out.  When we went in there was a line to get a table, but it moved very quickly and we didn't have to wait very long to sit down. The place was a bit run down, but there was lots of cool vintage touches to it. Honestly, it could use a really good cleaning.

Their food is your basic diner fare.  Nothing special, but huge portions.  It's the kind of food that's perfect for curing a hangover. The portions really are huge with one pancake taking up a whole large plate and still hanging over the edges of it. The omelets are big enough to serve two people.  Especially since they come with either one of those huge pancakes or hash browns and toast on the side.
