Oregon Coast Aquarium

Before we headed home to Portland, we drove over to Newport to go to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It’d been many years since any of us had been there so we were all very much looking forward to our afternoon there. Lucky for us, there was a really great national touring art exhibit, Washed Ashore, taking place while we were there. If this exhibit comes near you, we highly recommend checking it out.

This fish is made out of materials that were found after being washed ashore on the beach.

Always enjoy seeing the sea lions swim.

Cute little puffin taking a bath. Have you ever seen one swim in the water? It looks like they are flying in the sky.

Amanda and her friend inside a whale skeleton made of garbage found washed ashore on the beach.

Squid attack!

Coral reef made out of Styrofoam washed up on the beach.

This fish was made all out of flip flops and the pieces of plastic the flip flops are cut out of. All found on the beach.

Jellyfish of plastic bottles.

In the Passages of the Deep.

What are you lookin' at?
Love the huge kelp. Makes great jump ropes while at the beach.

Sharks!

Such beautiful creatures in the sea. It's sad to think how horrible we treat the sea and how that not only effects the creatures that live in it, but us as well.

Playing in the tide pools.

Jellyfish!

Japanese spider crab

Little baby seahorses!

What do seahorses feed on? Sea monkeys!
